    The value of values

I hope you have all had a great first month of 2020 so far. January always seems like such a lovely cruisy contrast to the hype of December. Most people have had a decent summer holiday to reset and relax, and then at the end of the month we've got a 3 day weekend, and another mid-week day off following close behind with Waitangi day. Such a kind start to a new year... James and I are having our summer holiday in Taupo at the moment. I thought I'd share something that got me

Burnout and the badge of busy

"Oh hey! How are you?" "Busy!" We've all heard it, right? 'Busy' seems to be such a common response that we all just seem to be on autopilot when we say it, and when we hear it. It's like a lot of us wear a badge full time that says 'BUSY' like it's now our identity. I am seeing it more and more in clinic - people on their way to total depletion because they have put their own needs last for such a long period of time. (Can I get a show of hands from all the Mums out there?!)

    Holding healthful habits

How long do you think it takes to form a habit? You've probably heard that it takes around 21 days. Well, research shows it can actually take a lot longer depending on the goal. More like at least 60 days! We get to this time of year and tend to struggle to be able to remember what our New Year resolutions were. All the excitement and promise of a new year conjures up new visions of what we want our lives to look like. But then just like that, we are facing a change of season

    Are you really living?

I recently read a blog post from a girl - which, unfortunately I cannot seem to find after much time trawling the internet! Anyway the essence of it was an important question - 'Are you really living, or are you just existing?' Are you working a job that you love, or that fulfills you in some way - while earning an income from it at the same time? Are you doing something each day towards your purpose? It made me feel so full of gratitude and love to be able to answer those q

    Happy New Year!

Hello and happy new year to you all! I hope your 2017 is off to a safe and happy start so far. I am so looking forward to beginning my naturopathic practice to support the people of Te Awamutu this year! I have been having some much needed time out to recuperate and recharge after the energy deficit study and living between Te Awamutu and Auckland caused. Depending on which part of the country you have spent this portion of summer - but actually the whole country appears to h

    Don't forget to reflect

With the rush of Christmas gone, and a new year approaching fast, we are left feeling somewhat stranded in a far away galaxy where time, responsibilities and perhaps even human existence have no meaning! Just know that this feeling is totally normal - it is just a lull in contrast to the crazy. Towards the end of the year we spend most of our time DOING. We tend to spread ourselves more and more thinly between work, family, Christmas shopping, Christmas parties, everything Ch
